Escaping to Manali: A Journey Through the Himalayas
I’ve always believed that the mountains have a way of healing, of whispering secrets only the heart can understand. That’s exactly what drew me to Manali, a dreamy hill station nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. And trust me, nothing could have prepared me for the way this place captivated me.
I started my journey with a long drive from Delhi, watching the cityscapes fade into winding mountain roads and pine forests. As I climbed higher, the air got crisper and cooler. By the time I reached Manali, the temperature had dipped, but my excitement was sky-high.
Day 1 – Arrival & Old Manali Charm
I stayed in a cozy homestay in Old Manali, where every corner has a rustic charm. Cobblestone paths, cafes with fairy lights, and the sound of the Beas River in the background—it felt like something out of a storybook. I spent my first evening sipping hot chocolate at a cafe, watching the mist roll in over the mountains.
Day 2 – Solang Valley Thrills
I woke up early the next morning and headed straight to Solang Valley. Even in the off-season, this place has its own charm. Snow-capped peaks towered above, and I couldn’t resist trying paragliding for the first time. Soaring over the valley with the icy wind on my face was something I’ll never forget. It’s equal parts terrifying and liberating.
Day 3 – Rohtang Pass Adventures
If there’s one place that truly humbled me, it was Rohtang Pass. After a slightly bumpy ride up, I found myself surrounded by walls of snow and a silence that was almost spiritual. At over 13,000 feet, all I could hear was the crunch of snow beneath my boots and the wind echoing through the mountains. I built a snowman, threw snowballs like a kid, and just stood still for a while, soaking it all in.
Day 4 – Temples & Tranquility
Before I left, I visited the Hidimba Devi Temple, tucked amidst tall deodar trees. It’s quiet, mystical, and has this aura that makes you pause. Nearby, the Manu Temple offered stunning views and a moment of peace. I ended my day soaking in the hot springs of Vashisht, letting the warm water ease every bit of travel fatigue.
Final Thoughts
Manali isn’t just a destination—it’s an emotion. From the adrenaline-pumping adventures to the soul-soothing calm, every moment here felt alive. I came looking for a break, but I left with stories, memories, and a heart full of mountain magic.
Until next time, Manali. You’ve been nothing short of incredible.
